long walk

My pre-training begins tomorrow. I'm am hoping we will start with something easy like slow 3 miles.

Today, I walked pretty far. Well, tonight actually. I headed out thinking I was just taking a walk to Columbia and the cathedral. I just felt like going forward so I did. At some point I ended up on the rocky slabs of the Hudson River bank. I lied down for awhile and spotted the big dipper after the bright cotton-ball clouds had cleared. Looking across the water doesn't make me feel like I'm on an island. It really doesn't look so far to New Jersy. I wonder if I will ever swim it.

After awhile the water began to make rising-tide sounds with the aroma of urine. So I got out of there and headed south down the boardwalk. Do people sleep in sailboats anchored on the river? I think I passed a man and woman on the verge of public sex. Then passed some random people who enjoyed sitting in shadows watching passerbys. Eventually I ended up at the westside market on 110 because I wanted expensive cheese.
