The 10k is saturday

I've been extremely lazy about running lately. Last week (Thanksgiving week) I feasted more than once and did not run at all. Now I have to get myself to finish sunday's race in a somewhat decent time.

Last night I went to the gym for an easy 3 mile. No pushing myself too hard. It should have taken me 35 minutes then I would do some sit ups and push ups. I ended up going for 3.5 miles with a few steep hills. I can't even call it running. I walked about half...

I signed up for a race

I just signed up for the NYRR Joe Kleinerman 10K in Central Park on Dec. 6th and the
NYRR Half-Marathon Grand Prix also in Central Park on Jan 24th.

Unfortunately I have to train for something to run on a regular basis. I also partly do it for the bagels and fruit at the finish line.

My sleep schedule has been out of whack since I haven't been working. I will now have to start a schedule for running at least. I can't remember my 6 mile (10k) PR at the moment. It was a little over an hour. So ideally I would like to come in under 60minutes. My half marathon PR is 1:35:?? which I set last January for the same CP half-m. That was my first half marathon.

I HAVE ran since september

I have not run a lot. During the whole month of October, I was sick and weak. I was laid off from work and even though I seemed pretty much ok I was still depressed.

One day I decided to ride my bike to Columbia U. which is about 10 blocks away. I almost passed out after the 3 block long hill. So out of shape My friend Sara pointed out that i was probably still sick and my body was pissed at me. Anyway next ride over was much better. Since then I decided to run 3.5 around Marcus Garvy park. Which is 4 loops. Not bad, but the following day I had felt like I ran a marathon.

I need to train for a race in Central Park. Somehow know that I'm going to be timed and will have bagels and fuit waiting for me at the finish line motivates me. I can't really spend much money although it is cheaper since i'm part of NYRR. ok perhaps I will take a very short run today...

Queens Half Marathon

I think this was taken around mile 11. There really were lots of other people around me.
This is crossing the finished line.

I ran the Queens half on Sunday. I came in at 2:41:57. I was hoping to beat my PR of 2:35:?? but I'm glad I didn't get lost this time. I really didn't train so well this summer.

Can I do it?

Here it the course I ran today. It's about 4.9 miles. I walked a lot and got distracted by Franks Pizza but I finished the course. I think tomorrow I will focus on weights and stuff at the gym.

I've been fat and lazy about running lately. After I PRed in the Pride Run in June I had pretty much found every excuse not to run. I've cycled to work, skateboarded to the trains, swam a hand full of times at Marcus Garvy park. I moved out of my 6th flight apartment box by box for about 3 weeks. Oh yeah and have eaten yummy things like Fried portabella mushroom burgers and yummy beers. Anyway it just hit me that I bought my Bridesmaid dress for Sara's wedding a few weeks after I ran the Rome Marathon. That was about 5 months, 6 pounds and 3 inches ago. Yeah the 6 pound for 3 inches never made sense to be but I guess I had more muscle then. Also the Queens half marathon (13.1 miles) is coming up on Sept. 20th. I really want to race it to make up for disqualifying in Brooklyn Half.
